The IL-6 signaling pathway is well recognised as a central driver in rare CNS autoimmune conditions and has opened a new therapeutic chapter. This meeting will explore the multifaceted role of IL-6—a pleiotropic cytokine that not only fuels inflammation but also compromises the blood-brain barrier and promotes the survival of pathogenic plasmablasts through upstream mechanisms. As we look toward the future of rare disease management, we will evaluate the clinical value of IL-6 inhibition across a spectrum of disorders, including NMOSD, MOGAD, and Autoimmune Encephalitis.

The clinical expert will discuss how targeting this specific "cytokine hub" can reduce relapse risk, manage long-term disability with an acceptable long-term safety and tolerability profile and convenient administration.
